Birth With Blaise

Empower - Educate - Nurture

Doula: a woman who serves

A doula is a trained professional who empowers, educates, and nurtures mothers and their families from pregnancy to postpartum. While holding space for the birth experience, doulas provide continuous labor support: emotionally, informationally, and physically. To protect birth as a sacred journey, where unconditional love is BORN!

Lactation Counselor: a woman who supports

A Lactation Counselor is a trained professional who believes in supporting family’s short term and long-term infant feeding goals. Lactation Counseling can start to set up an expectant family for feeding success, or once the baby is Earthside, to foster a healthy, happy, thriving infant feeding relationship through infancy into toddlerhood. To protect infant feeding is to ensure infants are fed with the special ingredient of LOVE.

Meet the Certified Doula, Lactation Educator, IBCLC Candidate

Ella Blaise Thompson

Specializing in lactation support, unmedicated births, physiological hospital births, and overnight postpartum support.

Hello, I’m Ella Blaise Thompson!

I am a Certified Labor Doula, Certified Postpartum Doula, Lactation Education Counselor, and IBCLC Candidate serving the San Diego community. For as long as I can remember, I have had a calling to the maternal and infant wellness space. Since becoming a Doula and Lactation Professional, it has become my passion to support, nurture, empower, and care for families from pregnancy through their postpartum, infant-feeding journeys.

I look forward to all the BIRTHdays and infant feeding journeys I will be blessed to be a part of. Each family is held close to my heart.

"After our twins were born, Ella supported us as a night nanny for the first six weeks of their lives. She really helped us transition as a larger family by not only keeping our twins well cared for, she supported me with words of encouragement and even helped with small things chores around the house. I knew that when I went to sleep, our twins were in her safe, loving, caring hands. She is knowledgeable, proactive, and so dedicated to what she does that I can't recommend her enough"

  • Samantha C.

“From day one, I felt completely comfortable leaving my daughter in her care overnight. She helped with feeds, diaper changes, and getting her back to sleep, all while treating her with so much love and tenderness. It was obvious that she genuinely cared for her as if she were her own.

She made my breastfeeding journey so much easier and gave me the confidence to navigate those first few weeks postpartum.

She taught me so much, answered countless questions, and provided thoughtful, judgment-free guidance when I needed it most.

Even now, I still text her for advice; she has become someone I deeply trust. We are forever grateful for her and cannot recommend her highly enough.”

  • Leah H.

"Ella supported me beautifully during labor, but what stood out most was how she continued to care for me afterward - through thoughtful check-ins and support in every way I needed.

I had several difficult and highly stressful moments during my postpartum journey and Ella’s compassion and attentiveness made a huge difference in my postpartum recovery, and I always felt like

I had someone in my corner who not only was knowledgeable but someone who truly cared. She gave more than I expected and made me feel seen and supported every step of the way."

  • Melissa

“Ella's reliability and the gentle care she provided our son made all the difference the first few months postpartum. Her thoughtfulness, kindness, and genuine passion for her work were evident in everything she did. My husband and I were able to get good night rest knowing our son was in loving, capable hands."

  • Emily G.

"Ella was an amazing support before, during, and after my birth. She is very attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. After having a rough time giving birth to my daughter, Ella was able to guide me through the birth of my son - making it an amazing, healing experience. "

  • Jessica T.

“Although I had an induction which took some time my doula, Ella, was there from the beginning to end with patience, guidance, and tons of support. When I spoke she listened. It was a great experience.”

  • Isabella G.

"Ella is so sweet and was a true blessing to have with me during my labor. She validated my feelings and reassured me throughout it and is very knowledgeable on all things labor and postpartum."

  • Courtney B.

"Ella was such a blessing to have with me immediately after giving birth.

Even though it was my third birth, I had never been successful with breastfeeding. She helped support me in implementing the new breastfeeding technique.

She was such a calming and encouraging presence during a typically stressful time for me. She is simply amazing."
